Meet the goats

After 12 years of raising exclusively Nubian goats we welcomed a couple new breeds in 2018, when we combined our farm with that of our friend and goat mentor, D'Ann Binder at Fairwoods Farm.  We continued to milk and breed these varieties until 2025. In 2023, with the construction of The Beer Garden, we added Nigerian Dwarf and Tennessee Fainting goats.

Most times you can find small breed and baby goats in The Beer Garden with the larger goats out in the petting field.

We've provided a photo album of all of the permanent residents here, so you can identify the goats you see on your visit and know exactly who you're taking a selfie with. If you are on Instagram, be sure to tag us in your pictures. @thebeergardenatbhf

YODA

Yoda got her name because of her silly ears. She is a Nubian/LaMancha cross. She has a GLORIOUS beard, as does her sister, Batboy. They are both big, solid, serious girls

TUTU

Tutu is an extremely interesting goat. Tutu was born with female external genitalia, but internal testes. They are what's known as a pseudo-hermaphrodite. Nature is so metal!

Sometimes Tutu hangs with their sister, Megatron, and sometimes with the boy goats. We use they/them pronouns because Tutu can't tell us their preference.

MEGATRON

Megatron is half-sister to Rosemary's baby and full sister to TuTu. She got her name because she was a gigantic baby. She is still young and may grow some more, but she is basically a normal sized adult.

Megatron is a Nubian/LaMancha cross and is a mellow young lady.

ROSEMARY'S BABY

Rosemary's Baby, or RB, is a total anarchist. She has had no repct for norms or rules since her arrival at Blue Heron Farm. And we love her for it.

RB is an extremely people-oriented goat and is likely to be the first to greet you in the petting field. She is a LaMancha goat. That's just how her ears look.

ABORTION IS HEALTHCARE

I'm not preaching to you, Abortion is Healthcare (Abobo for short) and his brother Marble Rye were named by a Beer Garden supporter who paid for the naming rights on Kickstarter. We know you won't be offended by his name because it is just a fact.

Abobo likes to gaze into your eyes and get scritches all over. He is a Nigerian Dwarf and a very good boy.

MARBLE RYE

Marble Rye is a Nigerian Dwarf goat. He and his brother Abobo were the first two miniature goats on our farm and they have so much personality that we had to get more.

Marble Rye spends his time divided between the main Beer Garden section and the petting field. He likes to lean his head into people's legs.
